BJs is the only warehouse club I know that lets you use manufacturer coupons.  Here are some high value manufacturer coupons that you can use at BJs only:

$2 off any Johnson and Johnson’s Baby product

$2 off any Listerine Mouthwash or breath freshener

$3 off any Splenda product

$4 off any Tylenol or Motrin IB.

Edited to add: Please note that these coupons say “Redeemeable at BJ’s only” in the right lower corner.  Please don’t try to use these coupons in other stores as chances are the store won’t get reimbursed for them.  Don’t make acceptance of internet printable coupons any harder than what it already is.

Albertson’s Mix and Match Sale 1/7-1/13

albertsons

When I wrote earlier in the week about the catalina promotion Jewel has going on, I was asked by a reader if Albertson’s had the same promotion going on.  Albertson’s, Jewel and Shaws are all part of the same chain of grocery stores.  The good news is that the catalina promotion starts today 1/7 and runs through 1/13. Erin from I am Frugal has worked out the best deals for you.  Make sure to stop by and check her coupon matches.

How I wish my grocery store ran competitive promotions like this.  Enjoy your savings those of you with an Albertson’s, Jewel or Shaws grocery store.

Fun Giveaway: Febreze Candles

cl_prd_indiv_winter_evening

One of my favorite coupons last year was the coupon for $5 off Febreze Noticeables.  Even though at the time I was “getting paid” to buy other air refresher brands I had heard really good things about Febreze Noticeables and wanted to give them a try.  We have two small dogs and I am always fretting that my house smells like dog.

I am glad I gave Febreze Noticeables a try.  The scent is more subtle and long lasting than other brands.  So when I was offered a chance to try Febreze candles I jumped on it.  Febreze candles also provide a subtle scent that spreads throughout the room.  This is something I really appreciate since overwhelming smells turn me off.  Not only will the candle help rid of odors but it will also provide a nice warming ambiance to your home.  It comes in five scents and provide up to 30 hours of burn time.

I have the chance to give two of these candles away.  There will be two winners to this giveaway.  All you need to do is leave a comment with your name, email address once.  Comments without contact information will be considered ineligible and deleted.  This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.  This giveaway ends 1/7 at 9 PM CST.  At that time I will select the winners.

Good luck!

flinstonesWalgreens has a Register Rewards promotions going on for Flinstones Vitamins: Buy $20 in product and get a $10 in Register rewards back.  This is the transaction I detailed for you in my weekly deals post:

Flinstones Children’s Vitamins 60ct $5
Buy $20 get $10 in register rewards back
Use $1/1 internet printable
Use $1/1 from Coloring Book
Pay $0.50 each after coupons and register rewards

There was a mail in rebate form in the 1/4 coupon inserts:  Bayer Special Half Price Offer up to $10 Refund.  The offer does exclude coupon savings, so if you bought $20 in product and used $4 in manufacturer coupons then your rebate should be up to $8.  After mail in rebate you should come out ahead $6.

Also, there was a coupon in the same inserts for buy one get one free Stayfree product.  There is also a coupon for $3 off any Stayfree 28 or 48 pack in the weekly Walgreens ad.  The 28 count bag of Maxi pads sells for $6.99.  This is how you can get two for free:

$13.98 for two Stayfree products
-6.99 buy one get one coupon
-1 internet printable coupon
-6 (deducted when in-ad coupon gets scanned)
= FREE after coupons

Remember to hand in coupons in this order to avoid any beeping.

Anita also emailed me with this deal she got on Centrum Vitamins.  They are also part of the “Buy $20 get $20 in RRs back” deal.  The Centrum Silver (100ct) and the Original (130 ct) are on sale for $7 each.  There were $3 off coupons in these past Sunday inserts.  After coupons and register rewards you pay $2 plus tax for three bottles.

Anna from Thirteen and Frugal, sent me an email to remind us that the One Touch Mini glucose meters are on sale for $14.99 and there was a $20 off coupon in these past Sunday’s inserts.  These make wonderful donations to free clinics.

Ton’s of deals at Walgreens this week.  Happy Shopping!

Where to Use the Electrasol Coupon

Sun, Jan 4, 2009

eletrasolAre you wondering where to use your $2.50 off one coupon you got in your Sunday insert?  Here are your best options:

Walgreens has it on sale this week for $3.49 but you also get $1.50 back via their rebate program when you buy one box.  Unfortunately the limit is one box.

Target has Electrasol on temporary price cut for $3.25 through 1/19.  I noticed my Target carried “bonus” boxes with five extra tabs.

If you don’t have a Target or it is out of stock, you can buy it at Walmart where it is on rollback at $3.50.

Finally, Kmart has Electrasol products on sale for $4 each through 2/2.

Those are your options at the big box stores.  The coupon expires pretty quickly so you don’t want to delay in using it.

Happy Savings!

The End of Secondhand Clothes for Our Children

Sun, Jan 4, 2009

I want to point your attention to a very important issue that is going on now.  Starting on February 10, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act comes into effect.  A major impact of this program is the mandate that everything sold for children 12 and younger will have to be tested for lead and phthalates.  Anything that isn’t tested or that fails the test will be considered hazardous and cannot be sold.

This has a direct impact to small clothes and toy makers, thrift and consignment stores.   They can’t afford to send out each and every item they receive out for testing and will probably be forced to stop selling children clothes or close doors altogether. To make matters worse most of those clothes that previously were donated will now probably end up in a landfill.

This will also impact families who relied heavily on thrift stores to dress their children.  Demand for new clothes will probably go up impacting the price upwards.  Read more about this here, here and here.  You CAN do something about this: sign this petition to help small business owners or write to your local Congressman (this link has a letter template you can use) and ask that used clothes be left out of this program.

What are your thoughts about this?  How much do you think this will impact your family?
