Rolling Your Huggies Register Rewards

Do you have a lot of Huggies Register rewards you got this week?  I have FIVE!  I wish last week I had been able to take advantage of the Dove Deal but my store didn’t have enough product in stock.  So this week I had to spend more than I wanted out of pocket to get the diapers I wanted.  I knew that I was going to be rolling some of them next week getting some Dove Products (they will be on sale 25% and the RR deal is still going on).  But I wish I had found another deal to roll this week and be able to lower my out of pocket.

Well, here are a couple of scenarios to help you lower your out of pocket:

1) You could still try doing the Dove RR deal (Buy 8 get $10) if your store has restocked.  from what I understand the deal is still working with the trial soap size ($1.09 each) and also with the regular size single bar soaps ($1.59).  You could do a mix of both to get your our of pocket as close to $10.  Pay with your Huggies Register Rewards and then use the Dove Register rewards to get more diapers.

2) You could also try doing the two foll0wing deals in the same transaction:

$9.57 when you buy three Acne Free Terminator 10 (Has RR deal Buy three get $8 back).  These are on clearance for $3.19 each.
$2.99 Buy one Dry Idea deodorant
$2.76 four cans of Butterball chicken both after in ad coupon
Use three $1 off any Acne Free product coupon from 3/8 inserts
Use one $2/1 Dry Idea internet printable coupon
Use $10 RR from Huggies deal
=$0.32 plus tax out of pocket  and you get $8 RR from the Acne Free and $2 RR back from the Dry Idea deodorant and you have bought some of the items to qualify for the Conagra Rebate.  Do this a couple of times and you would have bought enough to turn some of your RRs into cash through this rebate.

Then use the $8 RR from Acne Free and the $2 RR from the Dry Idea to get more diapers.  You will need to get two small filler items to use these two RRs in addition to the huggies coupons you may have.

Another tip: if your store is out of stock of the diaper size you need.  Get packs of the diapers they have in stock.  Then you can bring those back later when they re-stock to be exchanged for the size you need.  Don’t forget to keep your receipt.

A word of caution on exchanging. I tried to exchange centrum vitamins that I bought on sale, for another style of centrum vitamins (regular for silver). They were the same cost not on sale. However, since I bought the regular vitamins on sale and went back when they were not on sale, they would not give me an even exchange! YMMV though, but beware!

  2. Lisa says:

I was able to use my huggies RR at Albertson’s to pay for my regular groceries! The cashier asked the manager, who said to scan it and see if it works, and it did! It was nice, I didn’t have to go back to Walgreens to use them on other stuff – it paid for my family’s food!

  3. Rebecca says:

I ran into this problem this morning with them not having size 4 in stock. I asked very nicely when their truck would be in and what their raincheck policy was. I was told I could have a raincheck but wouldn’t get the 10 RR. And then I asked if I could buy the wrong size and exchange them later and was told absolutely not! I was so frustrated that I just put back my things and left. :(

  4. Mercedes says:

    Rebecca,

What poor customer service. the suggestion to exchange later came directly from the AM at my local store. We were brain storming as to what we could do so I could buy more diapers and she thought of that.

  5. April says:

I too ran into the same problem of no size 4s so I just got size 5s. I have plenty stocked at home in size 4s so no worries. I can’t believe you were told you couldn’t exchange later. I would do it anyways! That is what a return policy is for and as long as you still have the receipt, you should be able to exchange/return. I don’t do a lot of walgreens shopping, so I just used my RR at Kroger for groceries. They scanned it no problem :-)

  6. Kate says:

I used my RRs at Jewel. It was such a thrill! And I bought the wrong size then exchanged at WalMart. They’ll exchange anything!

  7. I got a rain check on the dove soap and then bought it all this week when they restocked!

  8. angela says:

so kroger will take the $10 RR for walgreens from buying the diapers? do they always do this? that’s great if they do!

  9. Lacey says:

BUY THE WRONG SIZE & EXCHANGE!!! Definitely do this. I did it the week before on the Walgreens brand diapers. I had no problem whatsoever in exchanging them. I stopped at two different stores on the way to Dallas. I went in the store, found what sizes I needed, and went and got that number out of the car to exchange. I had to do this at 2 different Walgreens b/c no one had enough of whatever sizes. I would do it if I were you. If you have any problems, go to http://www.walgreens.com. Get the 800# and call. I called today for 3 reasons myself: giving praise for our local store, complaint about another store, and asking why the Dry Idea listed in the ad is not spitting out the RR. They will listen, but people have got to contact them. Girl, I would get some diapers while they are on the deal. They can sort it out later when you exchange. They should have been prepared for the sale.

  10. Ana M. says:

How long is the diaper deal going on? Is this monthly?

  11. mercedes says:

    Hi Anna,
The Huggies deal is a weekly deal and it ends on Saturday 3/14.

  12. Heather says:

Well I’m not sure I was supposed to be able to do this or not, but I went thru the line, got my 3 pkg of diapers and my RR, put them in the car, went back in and bought more using the RR from my previous purchase. They did have a little problem getting it thru, but made it work for me. I got there at 8 am when the store opened on Sunday morning to make sure I got the sizes I needed. With 2 kids in diapers I wasn’t taking any chances missing out on this.

  13. Heather says:

Oh, and you can use Walgreens RR at other stores? How’s THAT work? I’m really new to all this but loving the great deals I’ve been getting.

  14. Lacey says:

I too got there @ 8 a.m. before church. We did end up late though. I did 8-9 Huggies transactions this week. I think I am totally done though. I had so many coupons. I ended up giving several $3 to a girl who was going to buy a bunch. Walgreens diapers are going to be on sale next week I think. Their brand! Use the coupon in the $50 Savings pamphlet and get them for $2.50/pkg. Just thought I would throw that out there in case someone didn’t get enough of a certain size diapers. We had never used their brand until last week & they work as good as the Luvs we normally buy.

  15. Rebecca says:

Thanks Mercedes, for all your great deal suggestions. I’m so glad that it worked out for you to exchange. I guess now, being specifically told no, I am hesitant to go back and buy the wrong size. Fortunately I have one other Wags that I went to and was able to buy 3 packs of size four. I am hoping to pick up 3 more tomorrow night after they’ve unpacked their truck… I guess we’ll see. :)

  16. Dori says:

I thought that you couldn’t use RR to pay for a transaction that will give you RR. Has something changed? I wish we had a Krogers or Jewel that I could use those RR on!

  17. Megan says:

The RRs clearly state “redeemable at Walgreens.” Isn’t it dishonest to try to redeem them somewhere else? If they scan, that only means that the machine is able to read the barcode (and can interpret it to mean $10/off, etc.); it does not mean that the store will necessarily get that money when they mail the coupon in. I don’t want to jump to conclusions here, but it sounds fraudulent to me… What do the rest of you think? ~Megan (p.s. on the other hand, if it is legit, I can’t wait to try it at my Kroger!!)

  18. Yessica says:

I ended up with 50 RR. I just bought a random $50 product (and 4 packs of gum to have enough items to use the 5 RR coupons). Then, I went to another Walgreens, and returned the $50 item. I don’t know if this is legal, but when they make it so difficult to roll/reuse the RR’s, I don’t feel bad. They’ll still get the money for the RR from the manufacturer, AND they get the product back to resell. Plus, I ended up spending another $40 on more huggies promptly after I got my cash back.

  19. Chris says:

Mercedes, I would greatly appreciate an explanation about RR. Can you use RR that you received from a different product lets say a week before, towards a purchase that’s suppose to print more RR? I’ve had difficulty getting the new RR to print, so I just stopped doing it. But in your new scenario, your doing it, so it must work for you. Thanks and I appreciate all your hard work!

  20. Casey says:

    Hi,
I thought that you could not use register rewards to pay for any item that also offers register rewards? I was told this by a manager when my did not print out. Is this true?

  21. Megan says:

I use RR to pay for items that are supposed to generate RRs all the time (rolling) and always receive my next batch of RRs. I have never had a problem with this. The only “trouble” I’ve run into is when a cashier told me I could only use one of my RRs per order (I had two at the time). It sounds like this is a common problem, though, and I hope it’s remedied soon if Wags is moving toward a RR-only system. None of us will shop there anymore!

  22. Lacey says:

You can used RRs to purchase items that are earning RRs. However, don’t use a RR earned from Huggies to buy Huggies which is still earning RRS. It won’t print out. You cannot use the RRs earned from the same offer to buy the same offer. You can use them, but it won’t spit out another RR. So, try using the $10 ones earned from the J&J deal towards the Huggies and go back and forth. That works great. It actually means less money out of pocket even if you don’t need the J&J. You just have to have enough coupons to do it.

  23. Anon says:

Yessica, that is so wrong, I can’t believe you did that!

  24. Erin says:

Does anyone know if the Dove RR are still working for the trial size deoderants?

  25. Norma Flores says:

Yessica, I think what you did is wrong too. You give us, the couponers, a bad reputation.

  26. Megan says:

Erin: I read on iheartwags.com (I think it was there!) that the trial size deodorants are no longer working on the Dove deal. Only the regular size items (including bar soaps) and also the trial size soaps (which are actually pretty good-sized, which is nice!).

I’m really curious to know whether or not it’s fraud to use the RR at other stores (i.e. Kroger). I don’t want to do it if the store won’t get reimbursed, but if it is allowed it would be fantastic… Does anyone know?

Sorry, forgot to add great post! Can’t wait to see your next post!

  28. Sarah says:

I was under the impression from other sites and have been told from Walgreen’s employees that RR couldn’t be used to purchase deals that resulted in RR. Was I told wrong?

  29. Mercedes says:

    Megan,

Certain grocery stores allow customers to use catalinas from other stores. Some consider them a competitors coupon and will take them. However, you should always make sure to ask management about this as it could result in them not submitting the coupon for reimbursement and find themselves out of that money.

    Mercedes

  30. Mercedes says:

    Hi Sarah,

You should be able to roll catalinas. There’s no where in the sales circulars that states you can’t do that. Contact Walgreens corporate for official resolution.

    Mercedes

  31. Mercedes says:

    Yessica,

While you may have been able to getaway with doing a buy return like that this time, it is unfortunately that type of returns that make shopping at stores difficult for couponers. Your reasoning is right, don’t get me wrong, BUT in general store management frawns upon behaviour like that and will make returns more difficult for people who use coupons to make purchases.

    Mercedes

  32. Heather says:

You can use RRs to purchase something that should give RRs IF it’s not an RR deal by the same company. For example, if you use the Huggies RR on another Huggies deal, you will not get the second RR. Also, if you use the Huggies RR to pay for another deal that Kimberly Clark (the Huggies mfr) is running, you MIGHT not get that RR. If Kimberly Clark were running a different RR deal next week, I wouldn’t use the Huggies RR on it, to be safe.

Some reasons your RR might not print out: The Catalina machine is turned off, it’s out of paper, you accidentally got something that wasn’t included in the deal, the deal is already over/hasn’t started (like, it’s the wee hours of the morning on a Sunday and it hasn’t been “turned on” yet…) or some other mysterious reason. It’s probably a mystery to the Walgreens employees too, so they tell you the most logical reason they can think of.

  33. Amber says:

Hi everyone. I’m new to this but as a walgreens employee i might be able to help you out with some of your questions. Feel free to ask me. And as a coupon shopper myself i generally don’t care when you use lots of coupons and get your total down to a low value and as i tell my fellow employees, If you’re polite and nice to us we will do the same to you. I just the other day had a women screaming at me because i couldn’t take all of her coupons. I’m not going to help you at all if you scream at me and blame me. We do not make the rules we simply follow them. If you however approach me poitely and listen to what i’m telling you we will be much nicer. And as for the Register Rewards we do not control those at all. We have no idea when they’re going to print and when they will not. So if by some chance yours does not print and you are supposed to get one. Come back and speak to one of us. We will generally call a manager and explain the situation, but remember to be polite because that really helps the situation. Thank you very much for reading this post i hope it helps.

  34. Heather says:

The employees that helped me were very friendly and went out of their way to help me out. I was very appreciative. When I went thru the line to use my RR, she said I could only buy 2 pkgs and when I said something about another RR, she said “you won’t get one anyway” but didn’t explain why. Since they were really trying to help me (trouble with the coupon) and I’m new to how this all works, I just let it go. Now that you’ve all explained you can’t get another RR using the same type RR to pay, I know why. But even still, with the RR I did get and my coupons, my average per pkg was $4.33, so I’m pretty happy.

  35. Kristy says:

Could someone help me out? I’m new at the RR, but I tried to do two different Huggies transactions at my Walgreens this week, and I only got the RR for the first transaction, nothing for the second one. Is it only one RR per store? Per credit card? What? Can someone clue me in? Thanks in advance…

  36. Kristy says:

Oh also? This happened a couple of weeks ago for the Gilette Fusion razor RR, first one come out fine, but nothing on the second transaction…

  37. Amy Scott says:

On “” blog, they have the number to contact the catalina company if the RR doesn’t print. I haven’t had that problem yet, but if I do, I’ll let you know what happens when I call.

Hope it’s OK to mention this blog. I thought the info might help those who didn’t get their RRs.

    ——Mercedes Here—–
You can find the information to contact the catalina company on my FAQ sectio. the link is at the top of the page.

  38. Samantha says:

Last week, I tried to roll the RR for Irish Spring body wash and ran into problems as well. I understand that you can’t use a RR to purchase the same product again, but in this particular case, you purchase Irish Spring body wash for $4.49 ( sale price ) and receive a RR specifically for your next Irish Spring body wash free up to either $4.49 or the original price of $4.99, I don’t remember which. I purchased one along with other items and received my first RR. A few days later, I went to another Walgreen’s planning to roll the RR as much as I could. The first one I used with no problem, again purchasing other items and having another RR print out. I used that RR and others from the transaction toward my second transaction and this time the first RR was taken off, but another did not print out. The cashier was very nice, but said that she thought corporate was limiting the RRs but she was not sure of the rhyme or reason and suggested just “starting over”. So I purchased another body wash and a RR printed. I was then able to use that second RR to purchase a body wash paying only the tax, but no RR printed for the second one. I thought that I should have purchased a small item along with the RR item, but with the last 2 transactions, ONLY the body wash was purchased and I still got the printout for the first one but not the second. When all was said and done, I got the body wash for $2.25 + tax because I didn’t have any manufacturer’s coupons to apply. Still less than half price, but I appreciate any advice for future purchases. I apologize for any confusion in this post!!!
