Esther - that's odd. I have never had to pay tax on items purchased with ECBs. Maybe it's a state thing? I know some states require that you pay tax on the total before coupons are applied. I live in Texas and I don't think that policy applies.

Regarding rainchecks, I had one store give rainchecks for the school supplies without a problem. Another store intially refused to give rain checks for the 1" vinyl binders and Caliber pencils, even though this same store gave me rainchecks for the tape and pens on sale a few weeks ago. However, I mentioned the fact that I didn't think the store even carried the binders, so the cashier called his manager to ask when they would get some in stock, and the manager said to go ahead and give rain checks for both. Go figure. I guess there is a difference between a policy and a rule.

o, i'm in NY, and when i went to the store on sunday morning, I still didn't have to pay for tax. I went again in the afternoon in another store since the first store doesn't have everything, then the ECBs showed up as 'cvs manufacturer coupon', and the cashier doesn't know why it comes up as manufacturer coupon. But taxes apply to the total prior to my ECB subtraction. Today I went to another store to purchase yet other stuff that the other stores don't have, same thing with the tax. Anyone tried buying yesterday afternoon or today? This really sucks having to pay tax for every single item prior to ECBs!!!

also, when you use ECBs to get your total lower, you still have to pay taxes on those 'cvs manufacturer coupons'. Today I went to cvs and I had ECBs to cover the exact amount of the purchase, but the cashier said CVS now found the bug and since Sunday we have to pay taxes on everything, even when your ECB covers the exact amount of purchase we are making. I asked for the manager, but he seems to not know what is was like before this Sunday, that when with ECBS comes down to $0, we don't pay taxes for the items. So I had to pay for taxes even when my total was $0...=(...anyone else encountered this?

I did get the J&J stuff, great deal! Some of the packages (the ones with the red cross on them) had $2.00 peelies, which I used. I was disappointed that only the men's Speed Stick was on sale/gave ECBs, but oh well, the men need it too!

Just got back from my CVS shopping trip - wow, lots of freebies this week! FYI, I purchased 1 DVD to see if it was really a limit of 5...unfortunately my receipt said OFFER LIMIT REACHED w/ just the 1. The DVD is really nice though :) Also, don't forget to scan your card at the price scanner for extra coupons. I got a $2 off 2 Gold Emblem nuts coupon again. I used it to get 2 bags of free nuts located near the cashier.

Our stores can't make up their minds to allow or not to allow rain checks on ECB items. They know it's policy to do so but they make up their own. That's why I don't like our local CVS stores. They never seem to have the free after ECB items for more than 24 hours. But last week I went to a different store and FORGOT to ask for a rain check, I couldn't believe my forgetfulness.

I had the same problem last week with the freebies. I was told a shipment would show up on Tuesday, so I came back, a little bit too early, but they were giving substitutions for as much as they could and I got two regular sized scissors. That worked for me. Also, when I came back after the shipment came, they weren't unloaded and he searched around for me to find the items. I find them pretty accommodating, except for not stocking up well enough.

The freebies were gone when I got there last week. I was disappointed and asked one of the employees if there was another school stuff display. He said there wasn't but told me I could get a raincheck...for the sale price AND the ECB. Didn't know I could do that.
