Leapfrog Summer of Reading: Sheboygan Mead Library

by Mercedes on August 18, 2009

A couple of weeks ago I shared that I  am working with Leapfrog as an Ambassador of Summer Reading.  With this program Leapfrog wanted to reach out to communities through mom bloggers and help them by donating reading materials. Leapfrog created Library kits to donate to libraries as well as Home Care kits to donate to home daycare centers.  Both kits have Leapfrog Tag and Tag Junior readers plus books for each.

It has taken me some time because it has been hard getting a hold of library personnel.  Unfortunately some libraries in my area have had to experience furloughs.  This has made my time an effort even more worth it.  I have been able to find a home for three library kits and two home care kits.

Today I want to show you the video of my delivery to the Sheboygan Mead Library.   I will hopefully be able to show you the video for my other deliveries in the next few days.

How can I get involved with this program? Our libraries are experiencing the same financial struggles and these would be a great addition to their facilities.

Hi Kim,

This was a small outreach program from leapfrog. Unfortunately with the end of the summer coming they are wrapping it up now.

Oh this is such a wonderful thing. The daycare my daughter goes to, is funded in part by United Way, private donations. They service mostly single parent homes, and have been doing so for over 65 years. It’s a great school, and they offer a great education, and the parent fees are based on a sliding scale. They have a small library in the center, that would greatly benefit from this. Their website is http://www.winterparkdaynursery.org

HI THIS IS SUCHA WONDERFULL THING TO DO FOR KIDS…MY LOCAL LIBRARY IS FULL OF LIITTLE KIDS THAT EVERYDAY EXPAND THEIR IMAGINATION ATTENDING TO IT.I THINK THIS COULD BE A REALLY GOOD DONATION FOR THEM IF YOU STILL HAVE SOME KITS AVAILABLE..THE COMMUNITY WOULD REALLY APRECIATE THEM.http://www.midlibrary.org/library/contactus.asp

Hi guys,

Sorry for not being clear enough but I am only able to do this for libraries in my local area. Like I said, it was a small outreach program from leapfrog.

What a great program! Thank you for taking the time to work with Leap Frog on this. I guess I am lucky enough to be in the area… my 5 year old would love to give this a try. I will look for it next time we are there. Thanks again for all of your hard work!
