I keep forgetting that Target now price matches competitors ads. Here’s a great deal idea I stumbled upon at A Full Cup. Walgreens has General Mills cereals (Cereal, 11.5 to 14 oz.) on sale for $1.99 per box. Here’s how you can get Cocoa Puffs for free:
$1.99 Cocoa Puffs price matched to Walgreens ad
-$1/1 manufacturer printable coupon (hand this one first)
-$1/1 target printable coupon
FREE after coupon
You can get other General Mills cereals for very cheap by using the $1/2 coupon in the 8/23 SS inserts and the assorted $0.55/1, $0.75/1 or $1/2 printable coupons available on Coupons.com, Smartsource and Betty Crocker.
Remember that you price match items at Target over at Customer Service. So you will have to bring your items, coupons and Walgreens ad over to Customer Service to complete the transaction there. Also, note that the Walgreens ad states limit of 4 cereal boxes.
If you have price matched at Target, I would love to hear your experiences.

I have price matched at Target. I was the first one at my store to do it (did it with the Bic pens deal from Staples ad). The customer service desk had no problem, though! As always, Target is the best!!
My Target will only price match the exact items pictures and listed, so since Cocoa Puffs isn’t pictured, they wouldn’t match it. . .is there a Target Policy saying it doesn’t have to be pictured?
I’m going to Target today so I’ll give this a try. The ladies at HCW have mentioned that the price matching will not be combined with gift card deals, but I’m thinking it’s a YMMV thing. I’ll let you know how it goes!
I just price-matched yesterday on Huggies Diapers from this week’s CVS sale for $8.97 per pack. I went to Target’s Customer Service, handed her the ad, she verified the ad’s date and that it was for the same product, then price-adjusted the diapers! Voila!
I was going to try this with the gift card deal on the fiber one cereals (since they are gm too), I have a couple $1/2 coupons for Fiber One cereal, then I have the target $1/1 GM coupons to combine. If they are 50 cents each after those two coupons (assuming they are about 2.50 a box) and I buy 4 boxes, this could potentially be a 2.50 MM after I get my $5 GC.
I’ve priced matched at Target a couple of times. I always go to Customer Service first and tell/ask them what I plan to do (price match this item – use these Target coupons – use these manufacturer coupons). I’ve had success both times – but like it was mentioned before, the item specifically needs to either be pictured or mentioned in the ad. If it says, assorted varieties GM cereal – but the picture is Cheerios, they will only price match the Cheerios, not other GM cereals. HTH.
Kim, please let us know if this works – thanks!
I’m getting ready to head out, I’ll let you know!
Thanks for the tip, I went out my Target (which is great @ accepting coupons) and got 4 boxes for $ 1.96 with tax. I haven’t had any luck finding the LeapFrog Tag system on clearance just on sale for $ 39.99, here in so cal.
I am new to couponing. My target will only let me do five target web coupons a day. If I leave and come back they will not let me use anymore. I thought the policy was one per transaction not per day. What can I do about this. I called customer service and was told that the manager can limit the coupons. Please let me know if anybody is haveing trouble with the Target on sunset in waukesha wisconsin. I went to the other target 10 min down the road and was able to buy 10 boxes for $4.oo. Their limit was ten coupons.
My target wouldn’t do it with this deal due to the gift card being given with 5 boxes. If I wanted to buy <4 boxes they would have done the price match. I called target corporate and they agreed.
We did this today. I called first and asked about the “picture” on the coupon – the lady sais that even though the picture on the Target coupon is Cheerios you could use it for any General Mills Cereal. So we price-matched the Walgreens ad, used 4 $1/1 Target coupons, 4 $.55 – .$75 manufacturers coupons (for Honey Nut Cheerios or Apple Cinnamon Cheerios) and got the cereal CHEAP! Also printed the $2 Healthy Choice coupons and got two non-refridgerated meals for $.14/each and two frozen ones for $.29/each. THANKS for sharing these deals!
I did the cereal deal today and had no problem.
