I find cooking the oats slowly in water over low heat works best (1/2 c. oats to 1 c. water, plus a big pinch of salt). Then after the oats are thick and “porridgey,” I add in brown sugar, raisins, walnuts, and some milk or soy milk.

I know the second one’s a bit strange and sometimes I make it stranger by adding hemp protein but both are so delicious!

While growing up, my mom would only feed us either regular cow milk or soy milk. I have a couple of glasses of soy milk everyday (usually the unsweeten). They’re so refreshing!
Now, I’ld do the same for my kids. They drink only regular milk or fresh soy milk.
