I'm a long term customer and I received a cyber monday 20% off plus free shipping coupon direct from fannie may. Placed the order and when they started shipping, they decided they weren't going to honor the 20% off part of the coupon and charged more than I authorized. I called the 800 number and by now they have decided the new policy is they are NOT refunding, they are NOT apologizing and the answer is TOO BAD. They also are not to refer "these types of calls to a supervisor," so my request to speak to someone else was denied. All "Liz" from customer service offered was to give me an email to voice my complaint - and surprise, surprise it's just the generic customerservice@fanniemay.com and I have received no answer after two days. I filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and I advise others to do the same. What Fannie May is doing is ILLEGAL.

I called the 1-800 number listed in this post, talked to customer service, and they refunded the $24.99 and apologized for the inconvenience. They said the refund takes 3-5 days to post to my card.

Wow, I agree with the previous person. That is not good for the company to back out of a deal they offered. What a shame...

wow! that's just shady. I thought the target carseat fiasco last year was pretty bad, but that was a legitimate human mistake, this was a real advertisement and working code!

Fortunately, a friend gave me a heads up that this company is not reputable and has a history of pulling stunts like this in the past, so I passed on the deal. Do a Google search and you can find a few articles. I truly hope that if people had a problem, they file a complaint with the organizations listed. That is not right at all and I will never shop from them.

I agree, it is the fault of the company. They should have figured out that the word would get out and they could have put a limit on how many customers can get the deal just like other companies do.

This is false advertisment. They have to honor what they advertise. If you go into a store and some thing is miss marked they have to honor it any way. I hope they get plenty of bad PR from this stunt and they lose business perminently. I know I will never buy again. Luckly you have some protection since the orders are put on credit cards and they can pull their payments.

Wow. They have a history of this? That's just horrible customer service. Good thing I just missed that deal before I could partake. Sounds scammy of them; lure you in with an unbelievable deal, then yank it and blame it on some outside force just to then charge full price on the people who would only shop for the deals. Fishy, fishy, fishy.

They did this last time they had a promotion too. I did not fall for it this time as it was a real mess to straighten out last time.

Hi Erin,

In the same way we gather information about deals we gather information about deals that go wrong. But it is you (readers who take advantage of the deals) that are the source of this information. If one of you alerts us of these problems then we can alert the rest. You are our source of information and we are all here to help each other.

I just hope that you guys can catch these problems everytime one of the deals you blog about go wrong.....it never occurred to me to check my statements to make sure they billed the correct amount. I was under the impression that if someone wanted to charge my credit card for more than I had originally authorized, my credit card would have an issue with it......and not allow the transaction to be processed without notifying me first.
