My husband has done our taxes forever. We’ve used Turbo Tax since we’ve done our taxes.
I have always done my own taxes because it’s pretty simple and cheaper – until last year. I landed a mystery shop to have it done AND they paid for me to get the instant refund check PLUS $70! It was awesome.
Hi Mercedes, I’ve always done my own taxes. I feel like I am a little closer to my finances, and can take more accountability for it. I normally purchase Turbo Tax every year, so winning this would save me about $50.

There is one reason why not to do efile, at least this year. First-time homebuyer credit. Those who take it, cannot efile. That being said, I’ve been using the free version since 2004, after it took three months to get my state refund. I love it.
We prepare them ourselves because it is less expensive & we can file them on the computer late at night.

I don’t do my own taxes, because my parents have an accountant who always did our taxes, and that’s who I still use. However, I’d be willing to give it a shot. I only have one job and I don’t really have anything much to deduct, so I’m sure I could do it myself, especially with a program like this.

I’ve had my own business the last few years and have paid an accountant to do our taxes. However, this year I don’t have the business and will be going back to doing them on my own. Needless to say, I’m a little nervous!

I used to do my own taxes and it was always very easy to do and then one year I took them to a tax person to do and did that for 25+ years. My son just called me and said Mom check out Turbo Tax and I did and it is very easy to do, they walk you through every step of the way. I would love to win.

I fill out my own taxes because they’re not that hard to do if you organize yourself. I’ve used TurboTax with e-File for several years now — it’s great to be able to get your return in less than 2 weeks, and they catch mistakes that I might make (or deductions I might forget).

I have also used Turbo Tax over the last few years. What I love about it is that is automatically pulls over my earnings from the company that I and my husband work for. So easy!
We have had a CPA do our taxes for us the last seven years because it is so easy. We are in and out in less than 30 minutes. I have always been afraid to tackle the process myself as the forms look really complex. I have thought of buying the software and comparing the two results to see how accurate the software comes to our professional CPA. We have used tax software for years, and my husband has quite a bit of freelance income, so our taxes are far from simple. Keeping receipts organized and in one place throughout the year is the key, but once he actually decides to work on it, he’s done in less than a day!

I have done my own taxes now for many years, For three years I paid a CPA $300 (which was actually not so bad since he found me some tax deductions I wasn’t taking advantage of). I am self employed and it became apparant that after that amount of time I could just fill in the blank (mostly) by following my previous years taxes. I love Turbo Tax and it is the only tax program I will use.

My husband and I file our own taxes. The first year we were married we went to H&R Block because we didn’t know ant better. The next year, I wanted to save money by preparing them myself but wasn’t sure I’d catch all the deductions that a professional would. So I conducted a little experiment and entered all our tax info from the last year into Turbo Tax. It spit out the exact same return that the professional had given us. Only it was a lot cheaper. So we’ve used Turbo tax ever since.

Hi! I have always done mine online; even if you end up owing, you can prepare them, print and wait to mail until April 15th. Also, with free tax prep (thru the IRS and WI Dept. of Revenue Site) they double check as you go along so u don’t miss anything. I have done other’s taxes also this way and just charged $20-30 for less than an hr. of work!!! Excellent idea to do them yourself!

OMG! I have been using turbotax since 1999. It makes doing taxes SO easy!!
I use Turbo Tax because one year I did my taxes myself then compared it to Turbo Tax, and it gave me a much bigger refund!

I always do taxes by myself and turbo is beast and easy way.
My husband has been doing our taxes for a few years now. He is a numbers guy, so it makes sense for him to do it rather than pay someone else.
I don’t want to pay a few hundred dollars when it’s so easy to do myself.
