The “staycations” I remember as a kid were “Go out side and play. Grandma’s watching her stories.”

Staycation is just needs some resourcefulness. But I think, if we can save money on traveling expenses (travel coupons or free fare), we should grab the vacation. Sometimes, leaving your common home has a mental, emotional and physical benefits that will make us more productive.

We are having a huge garage sale! We have done our spring cleaning. This will keep us at home to not only save money but make money. It teaches the kids the concept of money, works on thier math skills, allows them to be social and meet new people. We always picnic so it will be fun. And we donate all the unsold items.

I tried leaving a comment at the end of the article but it wouldn’t let me. (said ‘invalid characters’) I’ll leave it here instead.

My town’s library offers free passes to local museums. We just have to call a few days in advance to reserve the pass, then return it by 10 am the next day. We’ve saved a lot of money this way. Letterboxing (or geocaching if you have a GPS) is a another great and very inexpensive family activity. We’ve done letterboxing locally and while on vacation. You can hike or find them in the city. Go to letterboxing.org to find out what it’s all about it.
