I just got back from my Target where I scored a whole bunch of toys for 75% off. I actually had a late start with three little kids and summer schedule and all. I did not get there until after 10:30am. So when I got there the stock was somewhat picked out. That’s when I noticed two different people with their carts piled high with stuff and one more person was half way there too.
Still, it was not a mob house like when I shopped last year in my old town. I still had a chance to go through the aisles twice and get what I wanted. I prepared by going on Sunday and scoping out what to get. Most of what I wanted was still there.
I wish I could show you what I got but I don’t want to spoil the surprise for my kids. Plus, I also don’t want them to think it is all for them as I got some items for birthday presents and to donate.
What did YOU score?

Just went and our Target had NOTHING at 75% off…
They didn’t have much at my Target for my girls, but we did score some kites for $0.74 to put back for next spring.
I scored big on baby stuff!!! I have been to 2 different targets already and have gotten some really great stuff! I got 2 baby monitors for $17 each! They were the ones I put on my baby registry but didn’t get at my shower! They were regular price 69.99! They also had a ton of baby wash cloths, towels, blankets, clothes, and even formula marked down 75% off!! I am expecting my 2nd in September and I was so so so excited to get a lot of what I needed for pennies on the dollar! =))))
I’m so jealous of the 75% at stores! I went this morning and it’s only at 30% off in WI.
That’s a bummer- I am in Oshkosh and we had 75% off
I didn’t know about this and just happened on it today when I was at Target. I got a V-Smile for 9.98 marked down from 39.99 and an imaginext Dinosaur for 4.98 marked down from 19.99. I could have found so much more. But I was only on my lunch break. They had barbies for 1.50.
Oh and I talked to a guy who works there and he said not every store gets the clearance toys. You can go on Target.com and it will give you a list of the stores that are getting them. He said the toys come from the DC’s not each store.
any clues as to where on Target.com to find that list?
?? Can’t find a way to get this information.
They had a lot of stuff at the Target here (Oklahoma). They were still marking stuff down when I got there and the signs still said 30% off so at first I was bummed, but then I took a closer look at the prices and they were 75% off. I got a lot of bubbles, sand toys, and outdoor toys. There was a couple there, probably in their 50s or 60s, that were loading up…they had 3 carts piled high with stuff. They were taking all of certain items too. It would have been nice if they could have left one or two of each item. Pretty sure they are reselling the stuff. So annoying!
I asked this on the FB page, but I’m repeating in the hopes that someone knows the answer:
I was at Target a week ago, and I bought several toys at 30 and 50% off. I knew that there was a chance they’d go on better sale later on, but in the past I haven’t had any luck with the stores having the toys I want in stock when I wait. So I seized the day and got bought about $50 worth of toys.
Today I went in to look for some of the toys I had been waiting on. Sure enough, everything I hadn’t bought was sold out, but to my surprise, most of what I had purchased was still in stock, and all marked down to 75% off (one toy I paid $10 for was marked down to $3.75!!!). I originally asked if I could do a price adjustment and they said yes, so I ran home, got my receipt and ran back, only to find out that they don’t actually do price adjustments on clearance stuff (wish they’s given me accurate info in the first place!).
So now I’m wondering, if I bring back the original toys and my original receipt, can I return them for the price I paid, then just re-buy at the lower prices? It will still mean a third trip to the store, but overall I’d get about $25 back, assuming everything is still in stock this evening when I can get back there. What I really don’t want is to haul everything back to the store and then be told they’ll only return them for the lower clearance price.
I checked online, and all they say about clearance is that holiday/seasonal items will be returned at the current price. But these are just normal toys, not seasonal.
Does anyone have experience with this situation?
I do this every clearance sale. If there is something I really want, I’ll buy it at 50% off and hang onto the receipt. If it’s still there at 75%, I buy another one, and take one of them back with my first receipt. It’s NEVER a problem to do this, at least for me. Hope that helps!
Yes you can! My husband works for Target ( in the pharmacy) so he usually will see stuff go on sale before most. We do this ALL the time! We’ve purchased things full price before, rebought and returned at 30%, 50% and then finally ended up getting it for 75% off. Sometimes they get annoyed about it, but usually their nice. Ultimately it’s your money, and if you have your receipt, they have to return it
Good luck!
In regards to returning… they don’t do price adjustments but I have returned the clearance items at the full price. I left the clearance stickers on b/c I wanted to them know what I was doing in case it was a problem and nobody said anything to me…
I just want to comment on Target…
Target has always been my favorite store, but lately I have noticed that all of my coupons appear to go through when in fact they do not. Last week I handed the cashier 20 coupons and I watched and listened as she scanned them. It appeared and sounded like they all went through, but when I checked my receipt I was dismayed to find that only 17 went through. Hmmmm.
Last night, I went to Target with my son and bought food and clothing items. When I checked my receipt, I found that 5 items rang up at the wrong price. I had to go to customer service to get refunds. It was easy to get the refunds, however, I am not thrilled that Target is not pricing accurately. What is going on with this company? I have never had these problems before.
Beware when shopping at Target. How can I avoid the coupon problem in the future? By the time I noticed that all did not scan, I couldn’t go back to the cashier as she had already merged the coupons with the rest of her coupons.
I have had this problem multiple times. Also if I have a coupon that is a certain price off of multiple items, it only takes off the price of one.
For example:
The $1.50 off 4 Chef Boyardee couponn. I used it last night and it automatically adjusted to 87 cents, the price of one at my Target. I went to customer service and they gave me a refund ( I know it was only 63 cents and usually I don’t worry about that small of amount, but I’m sick of this always happening there).
Just make sure everyone is checking to make sure all their coupon are accounted for and for the correct amount. Hopefully this is something that will be fixed, soon rather than later.
I’ve found it’s easiest to just not use coupons, then go to Guest Service and get my money back with them. Target actually has an option in there system called “Missed Coupon.”
Easier said than done! Does your Target receipt look like a bunch of monkeys threw the numbers on it? The way my Target arranges the charges/discounts/coupons is so haphazard that I can’t possibly check a long bill without a pencil & paper – maybe even a calculator. In fact, I used a Target coupon earlier this week (the $5 off C9 apparel) and it was not printed on the receipt anywhere – but the $5 had been deducted!! (I looked at every last detail among the eight items purchased.) How can I check receipts on-the-fly when some items aren’t even shown??
The strange coupon-adjustment situation just occurred this week at my Target. Things had been going well (when coupons actually scanned), but two coupons were down-adjusted this week. One was the $2 Pampers wipes coupon (took $1 off ) while another manuf. coup. for $1 took $0.00 off. Grumble. I say either take the coupons or don’t – quit fooling with the amounts (we know you’ll be reimbursed by the manuf for face value)!
Yes my receipts are hard to read also. I don’t go to Target as often now, so when I do its only for really good deals. I get too frustrated dealing with them. Last night was my only smooth trip in a long long time. Thats because 90% of my items were the discounted toys! Only six things were items I used coupons on. If you have a long receipt it will be hard to check. I always calculate what my total should be before I go. Then once I pay I add in the amount on the receipt for tax. If it is close, I’m fine with it, but if its off, I double check.
I had the same thing happen on the Chef Boyardee only giving me 87 off. I have to check because they have been leaving alot of coupons off my total as well. and then when I go to customer service they look at me like I’m crazy as if I’m lying its very frustrating.
At my target they put the most incompetent people as cashiers- seriously. The people working throughout the store are amazing, but as soon as you get to the cashiers they are all a little slow. They frequently miss coupons, but I add everything up as I shop so I know what the price should be. Annoying, but at least I get all the discounts. BUT when I bought the smart ones this week and used the $3/6 coupon it only took off 1.80 but I was watching and he fixed it- I only have one baby, I can’t imagine having multiple children and trying to watch at the same time.

My mom runs the AWANA store at her church and she was visiting me this week so she came with me and got TONS of cute little toys (and big toys) for the kids!
Before anyone thinks I’m ungrateful, I would like to add that my Target has SUPERB customer service.
I’m just not pleased with receipt dis-organization and random coupon adjustment. It makes in-store receipt checking impossible (I can’t always find what I planned to buy, and then I find other deals so pre-calculation/planning is difficult). Also, I usually have at least two of my four children with me (2,4,6,8yr olds).
Then it’s 20 miles back to Target when I hadn’t planned to go anywhere the next day….but at least customer service has been helpful every time I had a problem.
When I went to Super Target last week, I handed the coupons to the cashier one at a time. I had about 25 of them. I wanted to make sure each one scanned correctly. I had $1/3 Hunts, which were $0.89 each. Only $0.89 came off. I called her attention to it, but she said she couldn’t fix it. I probably could have argued over it, but there was a bit of a line behind me. Then she forgot to credit me $0.05 for each of my reusable bags. I was with my son & didn’t feel like making him wait while I went to customer service for $0.26 (3 bags x $0.05 + $0.11 coupon shortage).
I stopped at Target last night & scored a few toys for 75% – it was pretty picked over already. Stopped at a 2nd Target and they only had the toys at 50% off – will have to check there some other time.
ARG! We are PTing my youngest, so I am not leaving the house for the next 2 days. I sent DH and he just called saying I should never send him clearance shopping again. He spent over $100, but like I told him, its 75% off, so I would easily spend that much for christmas presents just for the girls.
We were able to get 16 toys for $60! We are done for my kids birthdays (one in September and one in October) and even have some stuff for Christmas! I’d like to go back tonight, as the lady was still scanning and price adjusting when I was there, to see if I can get a couple more things on a really good sale. They had tons of Transformers stuff, and my boys love those toys.
Is there anything for younger kids? Like two year olds? I have a one year old and a two year old and I would love to finish up their christmas shopping (already have it about half done!!!). One is a boy and one is a girl if that helps.
I got a couple of toys for my 9 month old daughter and also a couple for my 28 month old.
Mercedes
Ok!! Thank you! Going to check it out right now!!
I got the cutest little lion that you can either ride, or push when learning to walk. Reg 42.99 and I got it for 10.74!!! I hope you find stuff for your little one!
I wish I would have found the lion!!! My target is always out of stuff and the cheap stuff goes quick there! Another deal shopper or two must go there
I was able to find things for both of my kids though!
Thanks so much for the heads up on this. I almost forgot about it! I ended up with around 10 things for $55.00!! My daughter is the older one of my two and I got her a high chair for her baby dolls and an ironing board with and iron, both for $6.00!! (She loves to copy me doing things, like cleaning and laundry so this worked great!) I was able to get my son a car toy that was cheap and a bubble blower for a couple bucks. (he’s only one and loves chasiing bubbles!) Plus a few other things! There was some thing that hooks up to your computer and it suppose to help with teaching kids to write there ABC’s and you can print out works sheets (if you have a printer). I figured this would come in handy soon! It was only $12 something, normally price $49.99, so I grabbed it! I made out pretty well!!!
I got there also around 11am & saw another customer with a cart full checking out. When I went back to the toy aisles, quite a bit was depleted, but I was able to purchase a cartful of toys for myself & for a friend! Some bigger things I got were: Vsmile pocket $12.48, Tag reader $9.98, FP school computer $13.74, VT Bugsby reader $7.48 plus books $2.48… & the list goes on! I have all the toys I need for all the birthday parties for my son’s school friends this school year plus many Christmas presents… at a fraction of the cost!!
I just got back and was able to get some great items for 75% – Hello Kitty, Super Why, Fisher Price Computer Cool School (marked down to $12.50, reg. $50), and Chixos. All in time for 3 birthday parties my daughter has been invited to.
I was surprised at how many people where in there that early in the day. The toys were going FAST!!!
I just wished I had more money! LOL
BTW, I’m in Cobb County (Atlanta), GA.
I just got back from target and our toys were pretty picked over- I, however, got Battle of the Sexes board game for $4.98!!! We bought it last week for over $20, so I think we’ll take that back! I also found the Pyrex line products on clearance! I got a salad spinner for $7!! and a balloon whisk scrapper that I have been wanting for a while for $3!!! That’s almost 75% off on both of those!! I was really excited to get such a deal!
I have been going to Target since Tuesday and, today, finally saw some toys at 75% off. I got my almost 2 year old an Iron Man Mr. Potato Head. Normally $15.98, marked down to three dollars and change.
I got two little people playsets (animalville and town center) and two extra little people tubes for less than $15! My target ( in AK) had the 30% signs up but the items were individually marked off at 75%, I’m glad I looked closer!
Just an update — went back to target this evening (to recap from my earlier comment, I’d been told by the csr at the desk that they would do a price adjustment, so I ran home, got my receipt and went back to the store, only to be told they actually don’t do clearance price adjustments). Of course, the two big-ticket items were now out of stock. I tried to return and immediately re-buy the exact same items (as in, the same boxes I had bought), but they wouldn’t let me. They said all returns take at least 24 hours to process, so my only choice was to come back tomorrow and hope I found the toys as soon as they were put on the shelves again. I explained that I would have been able to do it this morning when everything was still in stock if only their guy hadn’t given me bad info, but they refused to budge.
Now I’m angry, so I’m venting here. Target’s incompetence just cost me about $15.
Does anyone know if they are marking any other items on clearance besides the ones that were 30-50% off last week? I checked last week and bought one item for my daughter because I was afraid it would sell out (basket of plastic fruit – reg. price $4.99 I got it 50% off). We went back 2 days later for other stuff and when I checked, a lot of the good toys were gone already.
I’m going to run over to Target first thing tomorrow morning and see, but I’ll be really bummed if there’s nothing left.
Bekki,
At my store there were a lot of baby dolls that weren’t on sale at all last week but 75% off today. That’s all I noticed that I hadn’t seen last week on clearance.
I got several board/family games for less than $5 a piece, which make great gifts to families rather than buying indvidual gifts for each child, as well as a few seasonal items, and a My Little Pony…I got 7 or 8 things for $40!!
This was awesome! I got there around 3pm but still had a mountain of toys loaded in my cart…..Birthdays for friends, party favors, Christmas, etc etc….I’m stocked!
Thank you for sharing this info!!!
By the way, all the signs said 30% BUT if you look closely, the stickers are 75%. I’m in Colorado.
I got an Air Hogs morphing remote-controlled plane thing-mabob for my 11 year old’s birthday. It had been $50 but rang up $12.50! It was the last one. I got a preschool learning game (Cookie Shapes) for my 2.5 year old for $3.74 (reg. $15). I got the Tinkerbell Didj game for my 6-year old daughter’s birthday (which is tomorrow) for $6.74 (reg. 30). I got some tubes of cool Circo brand frogs/lizards, underwater creatures, and butterflies/insects for $1.74 each (reg. $4.79). I got each of my kids a battery powered bubble blower that included a bottle of bubble soap and 2 Duracell batteries for 98 cents each (reg. $4 each). I saw a whole endcap of the VSmile consoles for $10 (reg. $40). I didn’t see the tip until around 3 PM, so it was already mid-afternoon when I went. I was surprised to find these good deals still, because there was apparently a lot more earlier in the day, judging by all the empty shelves!
Super jealous. My target pulled most of the good toys before the 75%, 3 aisles worth of good stuff. I got a couple cars for 1.34 but other than that nothing.
How do you know when Target is getting ready for the 75% off sale. I happened upon it last year in Feb. and then read your post yesterday and ran right out. I want to make sure I know when it typically goes on so I never miss it! Thanks for the post!!!
I hit 3 more Targets today, but I really only scored at the first one. They were right in the middle of marking things down (activating them one at a time in their computer system at 75% off), so I got my pick of a lot of summery items…I took everything I wanted to the lady with the handheld price gun and had her change the prices as I went. Folks didn’t know it was all going 75% off, so I got some great stuff! I got nice Circo wooden accessory track packs that had been $16 for $4 each. I just recently paid $1 per track piece for the adapter tracks at a hobby store, so I may have to return those now! These packs had risers, ascending tracks, male/male and female/female adapter pieces, as well as regular track pieces of various sizes. I got the last 2 packs. SO HAPPY!
So today I got:
Fisher Price Trio Bulldozer building set for $3.72 (reg. $15)
5-piece sidewalk chalk with chalk holder for $0.33 (reg. $1.34)
Matchbox Construction Zone set for $3.24 (reg. $13)
Air Hogs Triple Booster rocket set for $2.48 (reg. $9.99)
Zillions ATM Savings Bank for $4.98 (reg. $20)
Circo Fun Roller inflatable thing you roll inside of for $7.48 (reg. $30)
First Act Discovery Digital Drumsticks for $4.98 (reg. $20)
Leap Frog Tag Jr. Book Panda Bear Panda, Bear, What Do You See? for $2.74 (reg. $11)
Fisher Price Matching Middles game for $2.24 (reg. $9)
Shark Frenzy wind-up fishing game for $0.62 (reg. $2.50)
Circo wooden Police Car that you build like a 3-D puzzle for $1.74 (reg. $7)
The Primary Time Teacher by Learning Resources (shows digital and analog) for $3.74 (reg. $15)
Banzaii Micro Morpher water blaster guns (4 per pack) for $1.74 (reg. $6)
Circo 52-piece sidewalk chalk for $1.24 (reg. $5)
2-pack of Thomas the Tank Wooden Railway trains, Max & Monty for $4.98 (reg. $20)
Little Miracle Bubble Blower sets with bubbles for $0.48 (reg. $2)
Giant bottles of Gazillion Bubbles for $2.48 (reg. $10)
6-pack small bottles of Gazillion Bubbles for $1.48 (reg. $6)
That was quite a haul! I also got some little things like a sand scoop for 24 cents, a wind-up bathtub whale for $0.98, etc.
I stopped in at Old Navy and got paper lanterns on clearance for $0.48 each (reg. $5). They will be perfect for my Chinese birthday party I’m throwing for my kids next weekend.
They also had a Bounce Around (inflatable kind, not the continuous fan kind) for like $10. We Target-hopped the WHOLE day. I’m pooped with 3 kids in tow.

This is my first time I did the 75% off clearance shopping for toys at Target, and boy did I have fun! I didn’t get to Target right away, so it was a little picked over.
When do the toys generally get marked down. Is it only once a year? Or do they have other times of the year?
I am so bummed I didn’t get a chance to read this earlier. I manage a developmental program for developmentally delayed children ages 0-3. We are constantly in need of new toys- as I have been reading everyones responses it doesn’t seem that there are a lot of toys for babies and toddlers. Is that pretty accurate? I am wondering if it is too late and my store will be bare bones or if I should try driving there… closest one is 30 minutes away. Let me know what you guys think! thanks!
