I dont remember what insert this coupon came from but I have a $2/1 spot shot coupon making this a great deal if you use 2 coupons paired with their BOGO sale.

Does anyone know why in Utah Walgreens charges sales tax on the the subtotal before coupons are taken out???? I had a subtotal of .11 cents after coupons but then was charged .49 cents tax????? This didn’t happen in Texas. Please can someone explain. I don’t think I will like paying tax on items I didn’t pay full price for….Kohls doesn’t make you pay tax on the items before they take the Kohls cash off. They charge you tax on the subtotal after all coupons and discounts have been taken off.

In California, everyone charges tax on the total before coupons! Sometimes, my total is $.05 but taxes can be well over a $1.

I have some difficulty redeeming coupons at Walgreen. I’ve been told by their cashiers that they cannot accept, for example, a coupon for $1.00 off of Colgate toothpaste when the item is only $.99. Is there a “list” of any rules that Walgreen has for redeeming coupons at their store?

Thanks!

I just had this problem last week with trying to use a $1/1 Dawn dish soap coupon for a 99 cent dish soap. It didn’t go through, so I asked if a manager could check it, and he said they didn’t allow coupons for more than the amount. I’ve had coupons over the amount of the product in the past, and they’ve gone through just fine, so I’m not sure what the deal is.

I am in California also and I also have to pay tax on everything. The bulk of my out of pocket is usually tax.

Rae, I just moved from Texas to Kentucky and was also surprised at the tax on the pre-coupon total. I guess not every state is as coupon-friendly as Texas!

I think Texas is more of the exception than the norm.

tell me about it. CA is not friendly at all to couponer. i wan’t born here and still very new here. but i love couponing & use it mostly of my shopping deal. lots of people that i met who are born & grew-up here didn’t know & use coupon at all. they must be grateful of the coupon, since i don’t have that pleisure in my back home country.
