I am making a piñata! I shared this a few days ago on my Facebook page so I wanted to share it with you here too. My daughter is turning one in a few more days and I wanted to do something special for her. My older kids have gotten piñatas for their first birthday. I didn’t want her to miss out on that tradition. Unfortunately this time it is up to me to procure the piñata. So I turned to you on Facebook and you led me to the website Piñata Boy. I used his tips for making a heart shaped piñata to make what I hope will be a crown shape one for our little princess.
Here is my progress so far:
I used a clothes hanger and cardboard to make the shape of the crown:
Then wrapped it in paper and created a web with painters tape to give it “body”. The instructions called for masking tape but I had none of that. but I did have a lot of painter’s tape since my husband painted a couple of rooms in our new house:

That’s all I have for now. I hope the next update is after I have it decorated. I am not crafty AT ALL!! So I am very proud to be up to this point, can’t you tell? 
I just hope I am doing it right.

good job! im making a dora one for my soon to be 3 yr old party…i just blew up the balloon, paper mache…i was not even going to attempt doras head!! im sticking inside out dora cupcake holders all over, then hanging dora and boot cutouts to hang below the pinata…its actually fun making it! my 2 yr old got tired (its a lot of work!) but we are doing it together! in decorating, just rem. to add lots of fluff, glitter and shine…shell love it! =)
OMG, that is looking GOOD! I can’t wait to see it all finished! I may have to try making one myself, lol.
Just don’t do the coats to thick one year my little ones could break into the Piñata. I have made many since enjoy take lots of pictures because it wont be same afterwards.
It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see it completed! My little girls’ #2 party id October 16th and you have inspired me to make a pinata for her! (My older kids are 9, 16,18 and 21 years old…I haven’t attempted a pinata in a looong time LOL)
Don’t forget to stuff it with candy. Traditionaly piñatas are stuffed with candy, just make sure it’s not chocolate because it will be melted by the time you finish.

If you want to use chocolate ~ freeze it first then it will not melt!

So how messy are you? I make a spider of pumpkin every year for halloween using a simple $1 store punch balloon. After the mache dries you just pop the balloon and walla! Just in case you want a really easy one in the future! Looks great, can’t wait to see it finished! Will have to try this type sometime!
