4 Tips for Saving Money on a Wedding Dress

weddinmg dressA wedding is something that every girl looks forward to when they grow up. We want to meet that special someone and just live out that amazing fantasy wedding that we’ve seen in countless Disney movies over the years. Unfortunately, when we were watching movies like Cinderella when we were young and dreaming of the day we would meet prince charming and get to walk down the wedding aisle, we never realized that weddings are extremely expensive.

Chances are that you have started planning your wedding and you’re in shock at how expensive it is going to be, but it doesn’t have to be outrageously expensive. As a matter of fact, I got married when I was only 21-years-old and my husband and I were both still in college and neither of us had a job. In other words, we didn’t have thousands of dollars at our disposal. However, we were still able to have a beautiful and elegant wedding and it didn’t cost us an arm and a leg.

Below, I’m going to list out some tips for you to be able to save some money on your wedding dress, which is one of the things you look forward to shopping for the most when you’re planning out your wedding. I’m going to help you get the best deal possible and still get the wedding dress of your dreams.

#1. Purchase a Used Wedding Dress

Hey, no one says that you have to have a dress that’s brand new. A used dress is practically still a new wedding dress, anyways. I mean, most women only wear their wedding dress one time in their life, so why not buy a used one that looks good? It’s much cheaper than buying a brand new wedding dress. Also, once you’ve worn the dress, you can resell it and get your money back.

#2. Wear Your Mom’s Old Dress

Chances are that your mom saved her wedding dress and she would be absolutely honored if you walked down the aisle in it. I know wearing your mom’s dress could be a bit outdated, but you could bring it back to life. Consider adding some gemstones or making some alterations to it. Of course, you’ll have to have it fitted, as well.

#3. Shop at the $99.00 Section at David’s Bridal

If you decide you want to actually purchase a wedding dress, you could go to David’s Bridal. Now, they do have a ton of expensive options in the store, but they also have a $99.00 section, as well. Of course, you’ll only get the dress for this price and then you could buy the veil separate to spruce it up a little bit.

#4. Find Your Own Seamstress

Almost every wedding dress store has their own seamstress that works for the company. Instead of using them to hem your dress and make alterations, you could save some serious cash by finding your own seamstress.

Remember the most important thing is that you’re getting married to the person that you truly love, so don’t sweat it if you don’t have enough money for a Disney wedding.
