6 Tips for Making Some Extra Money if You’re a Stay at Home Mom

extra moneyLike myself, most of the readers on this site are stay at home moms. I’ve had some of you contact me and ask how you could earn some extra cash on the side if you’re a stay at home mom. I understand that most of you aren’t trying to become millionaires or something like that, but you just want a side income that could supplement your husband’s income. Therefore, I’m going to give you some easy ways to make an extra  buck or two. Below, you’ll find some tips that should definitely help you out.

#1. Allow Someone to Advertise on Your Vehicle

As a stay at home mom, you probably spend a decent amount of time on the road. You may have to pick up kids from school, from practice, go on grocery shopping trips, etc… Have you ever driven down the road and seen vehicles covered with advertisements for certain companies? The driver of that vehicle is someone just like you that decided to cover their vehicle in advertisements for some extra cash. If you don’t mind having your car covered in ads, you can easily make as much as an extra $500 a month.

#2. Host a Yard Sale or Garage Sale

Hosting a yard sale or a garage sale is a great way to clean out your house and also make some cash on the side. You won’t get much out of the items you’re selling, so try to keep the price range between $0.25 – $1.00 and you’ll do a good bit of business.

#3. Donate to a Thrift Store

You can donate some of the old clothing you have in your house to a thrift store and receive tax write-offs in return, plus you’ll be doing a good deed.

#4. Rent out a Spare Room

This is something that’s not for everyone, but it’s a way to make a little bit of extra money a month. If you have a spare bedroom in your home, you could consider renting it out to someone for a couple hundred bucks. I’ve even heard of some people making as much as $1,000 from renting out a room in their home.

#5. Sell Your Eggs

I’m not talking about dairy eggs, either. This is an option, like above, that’s not going to be for everyone and it’s particularly uncomfortable, but you can make some big time cash for doing it. If you want to donate an egg you could make as much as $8,000. If you’re interested, you could talk to your doctor about the requirements for donating an egg.

#6. Make Crafts and Sell Them

I hate to brag, but most of us stay at home moms are fairly crafty individuals. You could always consider making some crafts and then trying to sell them. You could ask local shops to feature some of your items or you could even try to sell them online. There are plenty of websites out there that will allow you to do this.
