Old Navy: 20% off Gift Cards plus Deal

Old Navy is offering 20% off Gift Card purchases of $300 or less from 12/18 through 12/24.  This offer is in-stores only.  Just be in the lookout for a flyer that looks like this, or ask your cashier for this offer as you enter to the store.  This would be a good way not only to get gift cards discounted to gift for the Holidays, but also if you are a frequent Old Navy buyer, to save for the rest of the year.  Actually, if you are a Banana Republic or Gap buyer consider taking advantage of this offer as you can use Old Navy gift cards at those stores as well as online.

Here’s a deal scenario shared by Joanie the Krazy Coupon Lady:

Buy $100 in Gap Merchandise (reg. or sale)
-$25 when 25% off automatic discount is applied (Gap is offering 25% off everything this weekend except Denim)
-$15 when you use 20% off Cheer Coupon
Subtotal: $60.00

Pay with $60 Old Navy Gift Card, that cost you $48 to get (after 20% off).  Effectively you have paid off only $48 for $100 in merchandise.  What a great deal!  To take advantage of it this weekend just: print your “Cheer Coupon.”  Then head to Old Navy and get a 20% discounted gift card.  Proceed to shopping at the Gap and take advantage of the 25% instant discount.  Use your Cheer Coupon  to pay even less and pay with your discounted Gift Card.  Hopefully you will find some great sale price items to maximize this offer.

Thanks Krazy Coupon Lady!

I just called my old navy they said they wont do it unless you have the friends and family card….is there any other way to do this?

  • Tatiana

The fine print of the GAP coupons says that in cannot be used on gift cards.

    • Hi Tatiana,

We are not using the coupon on the gift cards. We are using the coupons on the merchandise and pay with a gift card already purchased.

        Hello Mercedes –
The first part of the strategy was to use a coupon to buy
the gift card. I think that is what Tina is referring to.

        • Hi Emily,

I see. I don’t think it’s a coupon. It’s a flyer that has the details of the promotion and tells the cashier how to ring the gift card to get the discount. I didn’t call it a coupon, I called it a flyer and if you click through you can see it is not a coupon. So it should work as long as your store is participating.

I’m not sure this will work in all stores. My store will not allow you to use the Cheer coupon (or any coupon really) on a sale. Like during the B1G1 Sweaters I couldn’t use the coupon. She even tried it and it kicked off the sale price of the sweaters. I’ve tried this before during a buy 3 items save 25% sale and once the coupon was entered it kicked off the sale price. So unless you can find someone who can override that I don’t know if it will work in stores.

Online on the other hand works! Frustrates me that I can’t get it to work in stores.

(This is in regards to using the Cheer coupon along with the Gap 25% off everything deal)

Today, we had snow storm in NE Phila, but we braved to Old Navy…and it was well worth the trip. I purchased $50GC with 20% – costing me $40. Then our total purchase came to $64, then used 2 30% on single items & 20% on total puchase – paid total of $37. What a steal!! Thank you so much. Saving any amount of $ is well worth. Appreciate it. Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much! It worked like a charm for me. Cashier at Old Navy asked two managers that were standing there and they both said “Yes, we are doing this.”

Went to Gap and used the gift card to buy a bunch of items had $7.00 left over and went back down to Old Navy and found some deals and did two transactions and used the 30% off coupons from their ad.

    Great Deals! Thanks again.

I just called my local Old Navy and they told me that they were JUST TOLD about the promotion even though they’ve been advertising it on the radio all day today. The reason I called was because I was just there like an hour ago and they had told me I needed some card or coupon or something. The ad on the radio says nothing about that.
So it’s a real promo at least at the Old Navy in Moorestown, NJ!!!
