I just went to Walgreens and was told that they are only able to take 1 RR per transaction. So she wouldn’t let me pay with the 2 $2 RR I had…even thought I was organized and had no register beeps. I probably won’t spend the time to create transactions if that is the case.

  • veronica

thats why i dont like walgreens , i love cvs

  • Janice

Looks like the Vaseline Sheer Infusion coupon has reached its print limit.

  • Ari

I wonder if the “only 1 RR per transaction” is determined by the individual store. I’ve never had a problem using multiple RRs. I called my local store and was given a pretty vague answer. She said that the system is designed to only take a certain number of register rewards and it just depends on the register reward itself as far as whether or not multiples could be used. According to her, you won’t even be able to find out until you are actually making your transaction.
I do know that RRs count as coupons and the number of coupons you have cannot exceed the number of items you are buying.

  • Question:

The internet campbell soup coupon states on “cooking” soups – does that inlcude tomato soup?

    • Hi Alberta,

Yes, according to the Campbell’s website.

      Mercedes

  • Kris

According to my walgreens the RR’s are treated as manuf. coupons…you can use as many as you have products…makes getting the higher RR’s much better…been trying to use the lower ones to get higher ones.

  • Kris

Oh and use this link http://www.cvssavingscentral.com/programs/VaselineInfusion.aspx?WT.ac=B_092109_04_UNI_10055_Vaseline_TDM to get the Vaseline coupons…click on the learn more…other links I’ve seen are out.

  • Erin

Kris is correct, you should be able to use 1 RR/item as long as it does not exceed the total cost.

  • Erin

RR are basically equal to cash for Walgreens stores. There is none and should never be a reason for a store to accept only one for the benefit of the customer or the store.

To make a better Jello Deal you can use the $1.25 off Three Kraft Dessert Products (including Jello). These are found on tearpads at the holiday Ziplock display in KMart stores. So you can get three Jellos for $0.25, or if your store makes you buy in multiples of two for the sale price you would use two coupons and get six boxes for $0.50.

My Walgreens takes multiple RR per transaction; however you cannot use the more than one RR of the same dollar amount. I had two $5 RR last week and even though they were from different promotions (and stated this on the RR) they would not let me use them on the same transaction. Seems like RR are YMMV.

  • Candace

Thanks for all your comments abou the RR’s. I think this is a new thing for my store, I’m hoping they don’t inforce it. I just got a really nice walgreens checkout person in the beauty ilse…”trained” =) She is acctally helpful and likes to see people do well with their coupons! I agree CVS makes it easier…its not really walgreens money if there are all these rules to spending it. Mercedes, I love your site and you have saved me so much money! Thank you!

I visited a Walgreens today and took a beating- it seemed so hard to get a clear answer on the RR and manf. coupons. This was the second time this has happened to me – luckily I made a friend – the cashier. She knew what I was doing and was willing to work w/ me. Best advice she could give me was to go to her line and she would take the time to help me out. I hope that we can all make a friend like her so we can get more BANG for our bucks.

  • Amanda

I noticed this week they are having a b1g1 on rimmel and there is a b1g1 manf. coupon in the new all you magazine. Wouldn’t that amount to 2 free?

  • Belinda

Just got back from Walgreens. Two visines used 2 2/1 printables and 1 2 off from Wags coupon book which takes 4 off. 4 Cambells tomato soups used 2 1/2 printables and 3 jello brand jello used 1.25 off 3 from tearpad at Kmart. Paid .55 cents for everything.
    Cashier was even impressed:)

    Another question about register rewards:

I purchased the Vaseline lotion in a large transaction in which I used RRs to pay for most of it. When my new RRs printed, I didn’t get the $7 reward promised in the ad. The manager told me he thought it was because I paid used a register reward coupon equal to the amount I would have received from buying the product, and so it wouldn’t print more register rewards unless I used actual cash. That made ZERO sense to me, since technically the RR couldn’t have been “applied” to the lotion b/c I used a manufacturer coupon for the lotion. Anyone have any idea why my RRs didn’t print? Sometimes the people at my Walgreens (though VERY sweet) seem to have as many questions as I do about the RRs.

Ugh! If Walgreens continues to be difficult, I’m going to only purchase items there that are close to free on their own and not factor in the RR.

  • Rose

I was at my Walgreens today and didn’t see any deals on the Nabisco crackers or the bengay. Are deals regional at times? I looked all through the paper too and couldn’t see anything on these items.

I have been having pretty good success with my RRs. I sure hope it doesn’t change. Sometimes I feel like all the workers are staring at me like….uh oh, there she is again. Argh! I hate that feeling. But they are very friendly, thankfully. Today I had gone through my whole checkout (quite a few items) and when the RRs were printing, something happened with the printer that it all messed up. UGH!!!! So she had to void that transaction and go through the whole row again, 8 Dove products n all!

  • Krista

Thank you Kris for the Vaseline Q link! Yes, in my experience, the using 1 RR per transaction does depend on the store. I’ve even had one store tell me it’s a rule their specific Manager put in place and that all store can make their own rules, ha. They were all shocked when I asked them, “then why does it says on the RR that my RR can’t exceed the number of items I’m purchasing?? Why doesn’t it just say that I can only use one??” They didn’t have an answer for me so I just try to avoid that Wags. However, with all their other RR rules it doesn’t seem that I often use more then one anyways because I always have manufacturer coupons!

    hello..just a doubt

i came back from a walgreens…and i didnt find any monthly register rewards deals anywhere in the store…and their was too much crowd .. so i just came back without asking about it…

I work for Walgreen’s. And I hope that our attempts to save money oh a personal level, never cause corporations to loose enough profit to go bust cause then I would be out of a job!!! But I too clip coupons and look for every deal I can. I will buy from CVS if I need to in order to provide for my family and save money. There is a line I will not cross however. I know I am not telling y’all something you don’t already know. But just because I can get away with something doesn’t make it right. There are MANY shoppers who buy the Walgreen’s “free after register rewards” products. They will purchase multiples even thought he add and coupon clearly states “limited one coupon printed per offer). They will receive multiple register reward coupons and having used manufacturer coupons, they have made money on each transaction. Then they go back to a different Walgreen’s and return the merchandise for cash. They still have the register rewards. So they made money on each transaction, they cheated and did more than one printed per offer and they have their original money back. Walgreen’s, Walmart, KMart, Food Lion, Alberson’s Kroger’s…. they are businesses that must make at least a small profit or got the way of Circuit City and go out of business. Don’t hate them for trying to do what they do: retail. They provide what you need at a reasonable cost, with convenience etc. But Walgreen’s is struggling to survive just like all of us. Don’t let your personal greed drown the other guy, even if the other guy is coorporate. They pay me and thousands of others our paycheck. Take advantage of sales, clip coupons, just don’t cheat even if you know you can and get away with it. All I’m sayin is “play, but play fair”.
