Hey! Thanks for all the great deals every week! I know I would miss half of them without this blog. I am confused this week though because I cannot find three coupons that you said you found in the 3/6 RP. I’m looking for the .75/2 dove chocolate coupon, the B1G1 pure bar, and the $1/1 garnier fructis. Please help!! Thanks!

    • Jaime

Mallory, coupons can be very “regional” meaning certain parts of the country may get these coupons, but you would not. Sucks some times. : ) Happy couponing. Don’t worry, one day you might get a great one that others won’t.

    • Misty Mc

      Mallory,
My paper had those coupons. I don’t need them, so I can mail to you. E-mail me directly misty dot L dot mcallister at gmail dot com with your mailing address and I’ll send them out on Monday.

I signed up on the Pure site to have the $1.00 coupon e-mailed to me & nothing came. Weird!

Anyone know if the Catalina deal works for the Reach Toothbrushes buying 4 even though the ad says “limit 3?”

    • Kristina L.

Yes it worked for me. I have alot of the Reach coupons but all the Walgreens are out. Does anyone know where else the cat. is working and where they are cheap????

      • anonymous

CVS is having a sale this week on Reach toothbrushes. Using the $1/1 Reach internet printable coupon would make them free. The only thing about getting them at CVS is you won’t get any ECB’s back. At Walgreens you’ll get $4 RR’s for getting those so it’s unfortunate that all your Walgreens are out. Maybe they could give you a raincheck?

        • Grace

The Walgreen’s in Northlake and Elmhurst have tons of them. If you can’t find them ask for help they have them throughout the store. 🙂

    • anonymous

Stacy, I went to my Walgreens earlier and bought 8 in one transaction, like an id*ot, when I could have separated them into 2 transactions and gotten (2) $4 RR’s, but instead I only got (1) $4 RR. So the answer to your question is yes, you will get the $4 RR, even though their ad says limit is 3. That is at the discretion of the store whether they go strictly by what their ad states as far as limit. I’ve never had a problem getting more than the limit.. just as long as you don’t go overboard, they’re usually pretty accommodating 🙂

  • Bethanni

    Hello,

I’m new to this whole couponing thing and its actually quite overwhelming right now 🙁 …but I saw that you are using 3 or more coupons for one item and I don’t get that…I understand being able to use 1 manufacters coupon and a retail coupon but that would limit you to only being able to use 2 coupons per item and I see that you are using more than that….so if you could explain this to me I would very much appreciate it.

Another couple questions I have are:

Are the deals at walgreens and cvs the same for the whole month?

What is the best way to organize coupons?….right now I’m organizing them by the coupon’s deal and alphabetical…so if I have one coupon that’s .75 off lucky charms and another $1.00 off lucky charms I put them together regardless of the expiration date, but I’m not sure if this is the best way

I am extremely strapped for cash so I have to make sure I am buying efficiently….so if I do the whole walgreens and cvs thing where I get those extrabucks and buy things that are free or close to it…I am afraid I might be spending money on things I wouldn’t normally buy and then I’d be restricted to shopping only at walgreens and cvs because all that money is on the extracare card…when instead of buying random stuff that I could live without, I could’ve bought groceries….I hope that made sense

I’ve noticed that a lot of the coupons are for the same things, so how are you guys able to get all of your groceries using coupons and getting it for practically nothing….like how are you getting meats and veggies and fruit and dairy and bread??

    GRRRRR!!!

I am soooo overwhelmed and need guidance haha

    HELP ME PLEASE

    • Hi Bethanni

You have lots of great questions. So let’s get to them:

First you say “I saw that you are using 3 or more coupons for one item and I don’t get that”
I say: I am not telling people to use all the coupons I list at once. I am merely listen all the coupons available that a person could use. I assume people know that you can only use one manufacturer coupon per item. it would be very time consuming and repetitive for me to have to write at the end of every coupon I list the word “or. ” I do do it sometimes but like I said it is time consuming.

Then you ask: Are the deals at walgreens and cvs the same for the whole month?
The answer is yes and no. Both stores will have some deals that run the whole length of the months. but most deals are only available for one week only. So always make sure to look at the dates mentioned in the post to make sure the deal is valid. It is also a good idea to check for tags at stores to verify the dates the deal is valid for.
      .
Then you ask: What is the best way to organize coupons?
The answer to that question will vary per person and I think the answer is, do what best works for you. i think the method you are using very well. The only thing you need to make sure is once you are shopping you make sure to use the highest value coupon first. I am assuming that you are buying when something is on sale + you have a coupon and you want to maximize sales NOW.

Then you say: I am extremely strapped for cash so I have to make sure I am buying efficiently.
Since you are strapped for cash you need to prioritize what you buy. I would first buy the things that you need shorty when on sale and using a coupon. I would only buy things that you do not think you will use if they are moneymaker deals. This ties to your next question. You can then use the overage from those moneymaker deals to buy the things that you do need for less.
So for example this week you can buy four reach toothbrushes and pay $0.00 out of pocket and get back one $4 register rewards. You can then use the overage to buy something you NEED.

Coupons for meat and vegetables are very rare. BUT if you use overage to pay for other things you spend money on at the grocery store, you create that room in your budget to be able to buy them more comfortably. And as usual, buy when they go on sale.

      Hope that helps,

      Mercedes

      • Bethanni

Thank you!…that does help a lot!

    • Grace

Yes it can be over whelming , but just remember that with the rr from Walgreen’s you can use them at Jewel and Dominick’s. CVS extra bucks can ONLY be used at CVS. Dose that help some?

      Hi Bethany,
I see that Mercedes did a really great job of answering your ?’s. I <3 your site Mercedes!!! You rock!!! I still wanted to shoot Bethany a comment in regard to organizing her coupons. Most people will put them in a binder, or a recipe file box. I tried the binder thing & it did not work for me. I just had way too many coupons. I was spending so much time organizing the coupons themselves, & then organizing my lists too. Here is what I do now: I have a big file box (8.5 X11 hanging file folders). When I get my coupon inserts, I will write the date that they came out on a file folder & file it. this weekends file names are 3/20 RP, & 3/20 SS. I then watch deal sites for match ups. When I see a deal that I am interested in I will pull that file & cut whatever coupon I want. I also have a lil coupon organizer that I carry in my purse. The organizer is sorted by store, though. If I see a deal on here for, let's just say Target, I will cut/print the coupons & put them in the Target slot in my organizer. I only do this for deals that I know are ongoing, though. It doesn't do any good to put this weeks match ups in the Target spot, if I am not planning on going to Target this week. The downfall to this way is that I might not have coupons on me when I am in the store, & end up seeing what would be a good deal. The amount of time that I save cutting & organizing my coupons every week makes it worth it for me, though. I have extra coupons that come in the mail, or where ever else. I just sort those into 3 categories: food, household, & health & beauty. I have been doing this for a few years now & yes, it is extremely overwhelming in the beginning. It gets so much easier, though!!! You begin to just know by looking at a price in an ad what is a good deal, or not. You will start to memorize what coupons are out there. There are staple products that you will always be able to get coupons for. If I don't remember where a particular coupon is that I know is out there I will just use the coupon database that is on this site. Good luck!!!

      • Bethanni

Thank You!…Right now I am using a binder with photo inserts…if the way that I am doing it doesn’t work out I’ll def try your way!

  • Grace

Walgreen’s in Northlake and Elmhurst have tons of the Reach toothbrushes. If you can’t find them ask for help they have them throughout the store.

  • Bethanni

Has anyone ever watch the “exteme couponing” on TLC?…well has anyone ever been able to get a huge bill down to pretty much nothing and if so how long had you been couping before you we’re able to do this? and how exactly is it possible when a lot of the times you have to put money out in order to use the coupon? I just don’t see how a $600 bill gets down to $6 or a $1000 gets down to $20

    • pennyscents

I want to watch this show sooo bad. I have been hearing about it on the web, & also from ppl that know me, & know what I do. I have heard that some of it is a lot more extreme than I am, though. I do not have a garage or a basement devoted to storage! anyway, I have looked up the show on my cable box & it does not find it. ugh!!!

To answer your ?, i have never gotten my bill down to $20.00 from $1000.00 or anything like that, but I do think that I do okay. I have had stores owe my money 4 X after coupons. I have been doing this for a lil over 2 yrs now. The owe money incidents were always while stores were offering double coupon promos. I have never been given cash back, though. I have always just added something to my order. I even bought the person in line behind me their soda once. I guess I’m kind of crazy because I believe in doing lil nice things like that for complete strangers. I just think it makes the world a better place & you never really know where someone else is in their life. I know me doing something small like that can really make a persons day & at the end of the day that makes me feel good.

      • Bethanni

😀 you sound like me…that’s def something I would do and I totally agree with you…I believe that a smile and a “have a great day” can make all the difference in someone’s day..especially when all they meet are inpatient people who are inconsiderate….but good for you!…and ya there’s a new season coming out in the beginning of april and I can’t wait..hopefully you can watch it!

    • Danielle

From what I’ve heard, the “Extreme Couponing” series starts on April 6th with two episodes at 9 & 9:30 PM ET/PT on TLC, and will move to the 9:30 PM time slot the following week. It is confusing because they aired one episode on December 20th as a teaser.

I am new to couponing and want to send out a thank you to all of you with helpful, insightful blogs that are a great resource for us newbies. If anyone knows of a blog that covers the state of Hawaii, Safeway, KMart, Foodland, or WalMart, please let me know. I am very interested in reading more about how to save more on my shopping excursions!

    • Hi Bethanni,

You also have to remember that the show is “reality tv.” I am not saying they are lying but they are showing situations that are exaggerated or out of the norm. They don’t tell the “whole story.” and yes, you can bring a bill from 100’s to $20 if you have tons (and I mean tons) of coupons and buy a lot of things that are free after coupon, like in that show they show a woman buying tons of butterfinger bars.

It’s all done for the sake of the show. It is not something those people do every time they go shopping.

      Mercedes

  • OK I went to @ different Walgreens and they WOULDN’T take my coupons for the Almay deal? What am I doing wrong? I had the 1 coupon from the beauty book and the other from the newspaper just like you stated to do, but no luck pleas help. 🙁
