I tried using the $4 off coupon for the Gillett Fusion ProGlide and the register would not accept it. The manager’s reason was that the system recognizes the $5 RR as a manufacturer’s coupon, therefore I could not use the $4 off MF coupon. This is the first time I have ever encountered this, but the manager was very insistent that I was in the wrong. Any advice?

    Thanks!

    • Mercedes says:

      Hi EastTX Mom,
it sounds like your transaction was this? correct me if I am wrong:

      Bought one Fusion razors
tried to use one $/1 coupon+
tried to use a $5 register rewards to pay

It sounds like you needed a “filler”. Register rewards are like manufacturer coupons and need an item to “attach” to. this is why your coupon beeped. you needed an extra item so you could use your register rewards.

    • Allison V. says:

I could be insane, but I think I had a problem with a cereal RR once upon a time. The RR that printed had the exact same barcode as a mfr coupon from the inserts, therefore the system believed I was paying with the RR and would not print a second. But in that case the coupon and the RR were for the same amount, so surely that’s not the case with the razors???

  5. jill says:

Hello-I am having trouble figuring out the scotch tape overage. If the WGNS Q is B1G2F and they are $1.99 and you use 1-$1 Q, wouldn’t you be paying $1 for the 3 tapes?

    • Daphne says:

You can use a $1/1 coupon for EACH Scotch tape. That’s how you get the overage. I don’t know if Walgreens will give you cash back (probably not) so you’ll want to purchase something else at a bargain.

      • Venessa says:

But Walgreens policy is that you can’t use coupons on the “free” items, so couldn’t you just use one manufacturers coupon, not three?

  6. Jill says:

At Walgreens, do you have to buy 5 to get the grocery items for $1 a piece?

    • Daphne says:

Depends on the Walgreens. I went to 2 different ones yesterday for other things and one was charging $0.39ea for candy and the other was $1/3 or $0.69 each for the same candy. You’ll have to check with your local Walgreens.

  8. Stephanie says:

Hi! I am wondering if anyone has tried the Gillette Body Wash deal (3/$10) with 3 different coupons? Im just wondering because at the botttom of the ad it says “limit 1 coupon printed per offer” Not sure what that means?
    Any help???

    • Allison V. says:

I believe that’s in reference to the Register Reward. Only one will print for each transaction. Meaning, you could not buy six on one transaction and get two of the Register Rewards. You would have to split your transactions and only buy three at a time, if you wanted to receive more than one RR. You may use three manufacturer’s coupons when purchasing the three bottles – one coupon for each bottle.

  9. cpagne says:

How do you sign up for a register reward card?

  10. TammynSC says:

Where is the RR listed for the Post Honey Bunches of Oats Cereal? It’s not in my ad and I can’t find it online anywhere else. Has anyone tried this?

  11. Morgan says:

Just wanted to throw out there that some varieties of the Blue Diamond almonds have a 60 cents off 2 peelie sticker coupon so they end up being 2/$3 instead of the usual $3.59 each, in case you don’t have the coupons mentioned above.

  12. Jennifer says:

BTW, I bought the 2 Kotex panty liners for $6 and used the $1.50 off two coupon from one of the recent Sunday inserts, and the register spit out a $1.50 RR! Ends up being B1G1 after MQ and RR. I don’t think this is in the ad. I’m in the Houston, Texas area. Happy shopping!

  13. Bonnie says:

In the Aquafresh deal that you listed, I couldn’t find the $1/1 Wags IVC. Am I missing something?
There is also a $1/1 kids Aquafresh coupon out there somewhere, so you could get this for free if the Wags IVC can be found!

  16. Jenny C says:

Our local Wal-Mart was able to ad-match the Walgreen’s scotch tape deal since the price is listed on the coupon (“buy 1 at 1.99, get two free”). They also were willing to ring them all up in one transaction (instead of limit 3 per transaction). Wal-mart has the “new” style of Scotch Tape (the dispenser was a different color and shape) but the size and kind of tape was the same, so they were able to ad-match on that tape.

PLUS, thanks to Wal-Mart’s new corporate coupon policy allowing for cash back, I was also able to walk out of the store with 1 cart entirely full of tape and $80 overage cash in my pocket.

It was not a pleasant transaction, however, and they were rather rude about it, but the manager did allow the transaction.

Might be worth checking your local WalMarts to ad-match. Just bring along that printed copy of the Wal-Mart coupon policy if you need it! And remember to check the endcaps and hangers with the tape scattered throughout the store – including in the food department. And in gift wrap/cards/etc

    • pennyscents says:

Yeah, I can see that not going over so well at my WM! For me it would not be worth the hassle, stomach/headache of it all!!! Where about is your WM located?

      • Jenny C says:

Yea there was a hassle involved…There was some questions about it being a coupon. The walmart policy says they don’t accept competitor coupons for b1g1, but at the same time the walmart ad-match guarantee says they can ad-match the advertised price. It was iffy, but the manager did approve it – not as a coupon but as an ad-match.

I think that if you’d keep the number of coupons under 40 so the computer doesn’t prompt for manager approval (as it did for me) it would be a relatively easy transaction. Especially dependent on the cashier.

        • Jenny C says:

Also if you don’t technically even need to bring the walgreens ad in for them to even see, they guarantee the ad-match without it. It will all depend on your local store and management discretion, how “extreme” you go, the cashier, and maybe a little luck. Likely would not be a problem for handful of tapes, might be a problem for cartfuls.

        • Pennyscents says:

The price match guarantee policy even gives an example in writing. If a competitors ad saying the buy one @, ad includes price, get one then it is supposed to be price matched. I did know about the not even having to have the ad with you too. I wonder if WM would even follow that at all, though. I know they’re supposed to, but that doesn’t mean they will. You know what I mean.

Are you willing to say where about the WM that you shopped at is located?

    • nanaoftwelve says:

We have two Wal-Marts nearby and I tried the Walgreens ad-match at both stores. The first store DID ad-match and allow it. Then I went to the second store and they did NOT allow this. Needless to say I did buy the first store out of tape :)

    • Kaitlyn S says:

This worked for me too! But I only bought 30 tape at a time so I did not have to deal with any supervisor approval. I knew the checkout employee and she remembered me from prior shopping trips, so she had no problem matching the price. I did not have to bring in the ad.

  17. Laura says:

For the gillette soap deal, I also used the buy one gillette body wash, get one gillette deodorant free coupon from 5/1 insert!

  18. Elaine says:

For the scotch tape deal this week at Walgreens, isn’t it 99 cents for three rolls of tape? If one roll is $l.99 and you hand a dollar off coupon, then you still pay 99 cents even if the other two rolls are free. How does it come out to $1.01 overage as stated? Thank you

    • Chris says:

Walgreens allows 1 manufacturer coupon per item, even if the item is free through a store sale or store coupon.

If you buy 3 tape for $1.99, and hand them 3 coupons for $3.00 off, you’ll have an overage for the difference of $1.01.

Walgreens doesn’t pay out overage, so you simply have to buy something worth $1.01 or more to use the overage up. Since this tape coupon is an unlimited print (rare), the best way to do that this week is to buy 3 tapes and one of the other register reward deals or sale items you are buying. Then do a second transaction starting with 3 tapes and the next item(s) you are buying. Repeat a few times until you have everything you want for the week. This is of course only possible this week since the tape coupon is an unlimited print. Any transaction you start with 3 tapes and 3 coupons will start with the overage.

For example, I had several identical transactions this week using tape matched with Lunchables since I had a number of coupons for lunchables and sandwich combos:
      Scotch tape, $1.99 matched with 3x $1/1 coupons = -$1.01
      Lunchables, 2/$3 matched with 2x $1/1 coupons = $1.00
      Total = -$.01.
The cashier has to adjust the coupon (per their policy) from $1.00 to $.99, making the Total $.00. There is no tax on the lunchables, but the tax on the tape would come to 10 cents. So the 3 scotch tape and 2 lunchables cost 10 cents, plus you get the $1.00 register reward also. And if you use the $1 RR at a Roundy’s, they will double it to $2.00 on double daze. Making it a money maker of $1.90.

The other transaction I liked this week was:
      Scotch tape, $1.99 matched with 3 coupons = -$1.01
      Skittles, buy 4 @ .39 each, and use $.50/2 coupon = $1.06.
Total = $.15 with tax on the tape, plus you get the free Redbox dvd rental register reward.

      • Elaine says:

Thank you for the speedy, very detailed reply! To clarify, I need to print out three Scotch tape coupons, and then hand in the in ad coupon. Do I have it right? Thanks again.

        • Bonnie says:

Be careful here. My Walgreens won’t let you use overage that way, so you may be disappointed if you try this. Give it a try, but don’t get your hopes up.

          • Chris says:

Oh that sucks if your walgreens doesn’t. They absolutely should per their corporate coupon policy. I’ve never had a problem at any of the 3 walgreens nearby here. I just don’t do too many transactions at once so it doesn’t affect their other customers, so I don’t go when it’s very busy. But it also helps that I live next to a walgreens and they’re literally in my back yard.

  19. Elaine says:

When you want to print out a coupon that is on a page of 4 or more coupons, do you know a way to just print the coupon you want without wasting ink on the others? Many thanks!

  20. Anon says:

FYI, I went to WalMart with tape coupons intending to admatch.

HOWEVER, I found the tape in the clearance section for .69 each. I did not have to ad-match or do anything special. I was able to pickup over 50 of them, and the store did not have a problem paying out the difference.

I think the “old style” of the dispenser is on clearance, the “new style” is the regular priced stuff now.

CHECK THE CLEARANCE AISLE FOR SCOTCH TAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
