Things That Every Mom Should Have in Her Purse

stay-at-home-mom1Being a mom, have you ever wondered what all you should carry in your purse? Chances are you probably have. I know this, because I’m asked this question a lot by other moms. Therefore, I’ve decided that I’m going to list out the items that I carry in my purse and why I carry them. Are you ready to get started? Scroll down and keep in mind that this list has not been comprised in any certain order of importance or anything like that.

Breath Fresheners

Everyone should have some sort of breath mints or breath fresheners in their purse. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out, decide to eat a cheeseburger with something on it like onions and then I have breath that could kill. A breath freshener will take care of that problem in a jiffy.

Chewing Gum

Chewing gum is something that I always have to have with me. It will freshen your breath, as well.

Hand Sanitizer or Wipes

I carry hand sanitizer wipes in my vehicle and I keep a small bottle of liquid hand sanitizer in my purse. If you’re a mom, you know that your kids are going to touch something gross from time to time and you need a way to get the germs off of their hands. Therefore, I keep hand sanitizer in my purse at all times.

Kleenex

I’m one of those people that always have to have a clear nose, so I use Kleenexes a decent bit. Also, having kids, you’re going to have to clean their nose, as well. Plus, you can use it when your kids decide they don’t want their gum anymore.

Cell Phone

I always keep my cell phone on me for emergency purposes. With kids, you never know what could happen, so I highly advise always having one on you.

Sunglasses

This is something I always have to have on me, because my eyes are so sensitive to sunlight.

Small Wallet

I carry a small wallet that I keep my money and driver’s license in.

Receipts

This is something that may junk up my purse a lot, but I keep my receipts for practically everything. I highly suggest you do this, as well. You never know when you may need to take something back to the store that you brought it from or you have to provide someone with a proof of purchase.

Pen

A pen is one of those small things you will forget, but you’ll always be presented with situations where you need one. I always keep a pen stored in my purse.

Checkbook

We don’t use the checkbook a lot anymore, but I keep one in the purse just in case.

MP3 Player

I can plug my MP3 player into the auxiliary port in my vehicle, so I like to keep my MP3 player with me. It’s mostly filled with my kid’s favorite songs, though.

This is what I keep in my purse. What are some of the things you would suggest keeping in your purse for stay at home moms?

I’d count a small first aid kit a must have. Doesn’t matter if you’re a Mom or a single gal, they’re useful while out and about. I’ve got the standard cleaning wipes, band-aids, and a small tube of antibiotic. I also carry safety pins, too just in case you need to pin up a hem or something in an emergency.

Kleenex – I agree with it being a must have. Not only for nose blowing but also emergency TP when trapped in a stall that’s out!

    Receipts –
I don’t keep these in my purse; I have a small basket that’s on the kitchen counter. When I get back from shopping, it goes straight in there. I keep it it there for 30+ days until my credit card and/or checking account statement come in and everything balances out, then shred them. This way, if I *do* need to return something, I know immediately where to look for the receipt.

Unless, of course, I purchased anything that’s under warranty. Those get scanned into the computer for a digital copy, then taped to the booklets with the warranty info and filed away in a filing cabinet.
