5 Cheap Dinner Ideas

SpaghettiBeing a stay at home mom, you’re always looking for areas where you can save the most cash. However, you’re also on the move a lot of the time, so you really don’t have a ton of time to yourself. Well, today, I’m going to list out some cheap dinner ideas that I also consider to be fairly easy to make, as well. These dinner ideas will enable you to put food in your family member’s bellies and it will enable you to do it on the least amount of money possible.

#1. Spaghetti and Butter Bread

This is an extremely easy and cheap dinner you can whip up in no time. Simply boil up some spaghetti noodles and once they’re done you can cover them with spaghetti sauce. Also, you can get out some bread, spread some butter on it and put a piece of bread on each plate. Even though this is a fairly cheap dinner, my kids and hubby absolutely love spaghetti night. If you want to add in a little bit of extra protein you could even brown some ground chuck and throw in there, as well. However, the ground chuck will add more to your overall costs.

#2. Chili

Chili is one of those meals that absolutely everyone loves. I personally love to make chili, because it’s very cheap to make and it’s very easy for me to make it. Chili is a great dinner to make on those days when you’re running low on time. Also, it’s one of those dinners you can make your family and you may even have some leftovers for the next day. Sometimes, I’ll even buy us some tortilla chips and we can use the chili as our dip.

#3. Quesadillas

Quesadillas are extremely cheap and easy to make, but you’ll have to keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn. Typically, I just get some cheese, chicken tenderloins and floured quesadillas. I fry the quesadillas up in the skillet, add my ingredients together and voila! Dinner is ready and I’ve never received any complaints.

#4. Tacos or Burritos

My husband loves tacos so much that I even call him a taco-eating machine and my kids absolutely love them, as well. I’m glad they like them, because making tacos is very cheap and easy. Basically, all you have to do is get some ground chuck, taco seasoning, cheese, taco shells and some hot sauce. All of this is very affordable, it’s simple to make and you’ll have enough food to feed your whole family. Plus, they’ll absolutely love it. Some nights I’ll even get some Mexican rice and refried beans to include as side dishes.

#5. Sloppy Joes

I have yet to meet a man or a boy that doesn’t absolutely love Sloppy Joes. I’m personally not all that crazy about them, but they’re extremely simple to make and they’re extremely affordable. Simply buy some Sloppy Joe mix and get yourself some hamburger buns and ground chuck. I don’t even include side dishes or anything extra on Sloppy Joes nights, because my family eats so many Sloppy Joes that they couldn’t possibly consume anything else.
