5 Ways to Make Some Money Off of Your Child’s Old Clothes

If you’re a parent, you have children’s clothing in your home. Chances are you have old clothing that isn’t even being worn by them anymore. Children grow so fast that they need new clothes all the time, because their old ones simply won’t fit them anymore. It feels as if you’re lucky if your children are able to wear something more than half a dozen times before they’ve outgrown it.

This is a major downer to parents, because you feel like you’re not even getting your money’s worth out of the clothing you buy for your children, because it becomes obsolete so quickly. However, there is some good news, because you can make some cash off of your child’s old clothing. So, the next time you’re dressing them up only to realize that their shirt that fit last week won’t even make it over their head this week, you have no reason to be sad.

Below, I’m going to outline some tips that will help you make money off of your children’s old clothes. The tips below aren’t going to take a whole lot of time away from you and it won’t cost you anything.

#1. Sell the Used Clothing on Ebay

Ebay is always a great option to sell things you don’t want or need anymore. Also, you’d probably be very surprised at how much money people are willing to pay for name brand children’s clothing on Ebay. Make sure that you clean the clothes before listing them on Ebay and that they are in good condition. Include as much information as possible in your listing about the item and also take a slew of pictures.

The more information you give in your listing, the more likely you’ll be able to sell the item. If you want, you can also list how much you originally paid for the item, so bidders know what a great deal they’re getting.

#2. Trade Clothes with Other Moms

Chances are your friends that are moms will be in the same predicament that you’re in. Therefore, invite them all over to your house for what’s known as a “clothing swap.” At that point, you can all look at each other’s children clothing and trade. This is a great way to get rid of old children’s clothing, while also bringing home some new clothing for your children.

#3. Donate the Clothing

You could always go to a store, such as Goodwill, and donate your child’s old clothing to the store. First off, you’re giving to a good cause. Secondly, you’ll receive tax write-off forms for each item of clothing, which could really help you out when tax season rolls around.

#4. Join Facebook Groups

There are a lot of Facebook groups out there that are geared towards moms. These groups are a great way to interact with other moms and sell your child’s old clothing.

#5. Have a Yard Sale

Before Ebay, there were yard sales! Put up a sign in your area to let people know that you’re having a yard sale. Also, you can announce your yard sale on Facebook or even create a Facebook event. Organize all the items you want to sell in a neat fashion and let people come by and see what you’ve got.
